Balistraria Art Installation
A commission with artist Jwls Williams, over two consecutive years, to create an art installation within Caernarfon Castle. Situated in the castle's Black Tower and Chamberlain Tower, the works refer to the ‘balistraria’ (arrow slits), the vertical apertures that pierce the rugged ancient masonry. The response was to create a series of ‘light shaft’ forms that simultaneously appeared to penetrate the castle walls whilst providing a physical geometry within the interior darkness.
